Technological Evolution: Multi-Effect to MVR Evaporators

Unravelling the thermodynamic and mechanical developments transforming industrial evaporation systems globally.

MVR Recompression Systems

Mechanical Vapor Recompression (MVR) represents the modern peak of plant energy efficiency. By utilizing a high-efficiency centrifugal compressor or roots blower to compress clean process steam, the system raises the temperature and enthalpy of the secondary vapors. This compressed steam is fed back into the heating side of the exchanger, virtually eliminating external live steam requirements and cutting operational utilities cost by up to 60%.

Falling Film Heat Exchange

For thermally unstable materials, Falling Film Evaporation is vital. By introducing the feed at the top of the vertical heating tubes, an uniform liquid film flows downward along the inner tube walls. Vaporization occurs rapidly inside the falling film. The minimized residence time combined with optimized low-pressure operating parameters prevents thermal degradation and preserves product purity, making it ideal for food, pharmaceuticals, and starch refining.

Forced Circulation Evaporators

Designed to handle high viscosity, crystallization, and severe scaling media. By integrating high-capacity axial flow circulation pumps, the liquid velocity inside the heat exchanger tubes is maintained at a fast pace. This turbulent velocity increases heat transfer efficiency while scrubbing the inner tube walls dynamically, minimizing fouling tendencies in DDGS spent wash and chemical crystallization cycles.

Addressing Global Sourcing Bottlenecks: A Buyer’s Guide

Procuring capital-intensive industrial process equipment from overseas involves navigations around quality verification, code compliance, and structural integrity. Global engineering leads face three main challenges:

  • Standard Compliance: Confirming that safety margins and material standards conform strictly to regional rules, including ASME Section VIII Division 1 (North America) and the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED 2014/68/EU) for Europe.
  • Thermodynamic Design Validation: Ensuring heat transfer coefficients, vapor duct velocities, and pressure drop estimations prevent tube blockages or poor system capacities.
  • Equipment Lifespan and Metallurgy: Guaranteeing high-grade alloy fabrication (like Duplex SS, Titanium, or 316L) to prevent rapid galvanic and stress corrosion cracking in aggressive chemical solutions.

At Jiangsu Zongheng, our engineers utilize computerized thermal and structural calculations to model mass flow rates, vapor densities, and thermal stress. Our modern manufacturing base handles direct processing from raw steel plate to finalized, surface-treated pressure vessels with total transparency.

Industrial Process Equipment Profile & Mechanics

Exploring the mechanical architecture and process dynamics of our high-performance product range.

ZXG Tube Bundle Dryer

Operating via indirect steam heating, the Jiangsu Zongheng ZXG Tube Bundle Dryer is engineered for safe, low-oxygen drying of bulk organics. The product is fed into a stationary horizontal shell containing a rotating tube bundle. Steam enters the tubes, transferring thermal energy through conduction as the material is tumbled. Excellent steam consumption efficiency (1.2 to 1.3 kg of steam per kg of water evaporated) makes it a staple for starch, maize germ, and gluten drying.

MQG Airflow Dryer

The MQG Airflow Dryer utilizes high-speed hot air to suspend and fluidize damp particulate matter. Through an impulse airflow pattern induced by shifting tube diameters, particles are accelerated and decelerated continuously. This mechanical movement creates high boundary-layer heat transfer, enabling complete flash drying in seconds. The unit is self-regulating, yielding uniform moisture exit profiles for high-throughput starch and fiber applications.

Single Screw Press

Designed for heavy mechanical dewatering prior to thermal drying. Featuring a tapered, variable-pitch screw rotating inside a cylindrical screen cage, it exerts increasing pressure on the passing material. Feed slurries are compressed, separating the liquid phase through the screen. This system significantly drops thermal energy requirements downstream by mechanical moisture extraction.

Starch Washing Cyclone

Refining starch requires precise density separation. Our YDX Starch Washing Cyclone utilizes multi-stage centrifugal force inside hydrocyclone tubes. It forces heavier, purified starch granules outward against the wall, while lighter proteinaceous impurities, fibers, and soluble starches exit via the overflow. Constructed in premium stainless steel, it guarantees high starch purity and yield.

Waste Heat Evaporator

This design integrates multiple waste heat sources, such as flash steam, drying vapors, or boiler exhaust gases. By utilizing waste energy instead of primary boiler steam, plants can concentrate low-solid wastewater or process streams at negligible operational costs. It features custom pass arrangements to capture maximum heat transfer while working with variable waste-energy inputs.

Degerming Mill Machine

Specifically engineered for precision maize processing. The mill fractures pre-soaked corn kernels to free the germ intact without crushing the oil-bearing embryo. Centrifugal impact and adjustable rotor speeds allow plant operators to calibrate clearances, ensuring high starch yield and premium germ recovery rates.

Industrial Applications & Macro-Industry Solutions

Delivering process performance across diverse biological, chemical, and municipal treatment operations.

Bioethanol & Alcohol DDGS

In dry-mill corn ethanol plants, recovering dissolved organics is critical to economic viability. Our multi-effect falling film and forced circulation evaporators efficiently concentrate spent thin stillage into syrup. The syrup is then blended with wet cake and dried in our ZXG Tube Bundle Dryer to yield high-protein DDGS (Distillers Dried Grains with Solubles), maximizing plant yields.

Food Fermentation & Starches

Processing corn, cassava, and potato starch requires sanitary, high-volume concentration systems. We deliver complete concentration solutions for glucose, maltose, and organic acids. Utilizing low-temperature falling film evaporators keeps structural denaturation low, preventing color changes and starch caramelization while yielding premium food-grade products.

ZLD Industrial Wastewater

Fulfilling environmental mandates for Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) requires heavy separation. Our MVR concentration and crystallizer systems process highly concentrated, salt-laden industrial effluents. By vaporizing pure condensate for plant recycling and isolating salts, we help chemical plants achieve absolute liquid discharge compliance.

Future Technology Roadmap

Future Outlook: Smart & Low-Carbon Thermal Separation

The industrial landscape is moving rapidly toward carbon neutrality and smart automation. Jiangsu Zongheng’s research and development division is pioneering two primary directions to meet future global criteria:

Frequently Asked Questions: Technical Engineering

Answers to common thermal separation questions from design engineers and procurement directors.

Q1: How do you prevent scaling inside Falling Film Evaporators?
A1: Scaling is controlled by calculating the liquid wetting rate at the top of the distributor plates. If the feed flow rate is too low, dry spots occur inside the tubes, leading to local overheating and scaling. Our design utilizes customized distribution trays tailored to the liquid's viscosity, along with scheduled Clean-in-Place (CIP) cleaning cycles to maintain clean heat exchange surfaces.
Q2: What is the main differentiator between MVR and Multi-Effect Evaporators?
A2: While multi-effect evaporators rely on sequential steam expansions across decreasing pressure stages, they still consume fresh boiler steam for the first effect. MVR systems utilize mechanical compressor power to recycle the secondary vapor generated, requiring external fresh steam only for start-up operations. This saves up to 60-80% on steam utility costs.
Q3: How does the ZXG Tube Bundle Dryer handle sticky or pasty materials?
A3: The rotating tube bundle is equipped with custom scraper plates and feed shovels. These components continuously lift, turn, and guide the material along the heating bundle, preventing cake formation on the tubes and ensuring uniform heat transfer throughout the dry cycle.
Q4: Are your pressure vessels approved for import to North America?
A4: Yes. Holding the ASME "U" Stamp authorization, our designs and production processes conform to ASME Section VIII Div 1 rules. Every vessel is stamped and registered with the National Board, ensuring smooth import and local safety authority registrations.
