Engineered to maximize starch yields and optimize operational reliability under challenging local industrial climates.
India is experiencing an unprecedented expansion in its grain processing and milling sectors. Driven by the national mandates for ethanol production (fuel blending targets) and the exponential demand for liquid sweeteners, corn starch derivatives, and high-protein poultry feeds, starch processing facilities are scaling up operations at rapid speed.
Maize (corn) wet milling plants across regions such as Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, and Bihar are modernizing legacy operations. Traditional dry milling setups are increasingly replaced by modern wet milling factories. In these processes, the degerming mill acts as the central mechanism, gently cracking pre-steeped corn kernels to free the germ without crushing it, safeguarding valuable corn oil yield while maximizing down-stream starch separation.
The global starch processing and downstream derivative markets are shifting towards zero-loss processing, higher automation, and aggressive energy integration.
Global operators no longer treat waste streams as liabilities. Corn steep liquor (CSL), fiber fractions, and germ cake are converted into high-value protein concentrates, animal feeds, and edible oils, turning milling into a circular economy loop.
To reduce downtime, global manufacturers utilize advanced chromium alloys and hardened carbide surfaces on mill rotor plates, ensuring long continuous runs even under heavy, high-capacity operating conditions.
Integrating mechanical vapor recompression (MVR) systems into the evaporation stage drastically reduces raw coal or natural gas consumption, helping multi-national factories align with strict net-zero carbon pledges.
Discover the mechanical principles and dynamic technical parameters behind modern grain separation.
Our degerming mills utilize a high-impact, counter-rotating plate design. The pre-steeped corn enters the central chamber where it is propelled outward through rotating and stationary tooth plates. Rather than grinding the kernel, the machine applies localized shearing and impact forces that split the grain shell and release the germ intact.
Maximizing product quality and thermal efficiency by integrating key processing phases.
Maize kernels are soaked in sulfur dioxide water (steeping) to loosen the gluten-starch matrix. The swelled grain is passed through the Degerming Mill to isolate the germ without liberating gluten prematurely.
Hydrocyclones extract the free germs for oil pressing. Starch milk is separated from fiber and gluten. Heavy-duty Single Screw Presses are used to mechanically squeeze out moisture, preparing the damp fiber cake for drying.
Fiber and gluten are dried using high-performance Tube Bundle Dryers or Airflow Dryers. Concurrently, multi-effect evaporators or MVR systems concentrate corn steep liquor, maximizing dry solids capture.

Detailed technical advice for project managers, engineers, and plant operators seeking to optimize their degerming operations.
Dry milling degermation relies on impact and friction on dry or slightly tempered corn grains, separating hull and germ by size and density. Wet milling degermation operates on maize that has been chemically and thermally steeped (12-18 hours). The kernel is fully hydrated, allowing the germ to become elastic. The wet mill breaks the kernel shell, freeing the elastic germ without crushing it, which yields higher separation efficiency and higher oil recovery downstream.
We use premium wear-resistant chromium-carbide alloy coatings and cast steel assemblies for our grinding segments. The geometry of the mill teeth is optimized to distribute friction evenly across the working plane, significantly extending service intervals and reducing maintenance shutdown costs.
Yes. Indian flint corn and dent hybrids vary significantly in starch hardness and kernel moisture profiles. Our degerming mills feature a dynamic gap adjustment mechanism that allows operators to calibrate plate clearances in increments of 0.1 mm, ensuring optimal breakage regardless of grain density or moisture variance.
We specialize in integrating falling film evaporation plants, forced circulation evaporators, and mechanical vapor recompression (MVR) systems. These components concentrate high-COD corn steep water and process condensates, allowing plants to recycle treated water back into the steeping tanks, fulfilling CPCB environmental rules.
Jiangsu Zongheng holds the ASME "U" Stamp authorization, the ISO9001 international quality management certification, and the Special Equipment Manufacturing License of the People's Republic of China. This guarantees that all steam dryers, vacuum evaporators, and pressurized separators are built to global industrial safety standards.
